5 ways to make the most of the longest day of the year

Back

June 21st will be the longest day of 2018, with a whole 16 hours and 38 minutes of daylight - that’s five hours and 50 minutes’ more daylight compared to the shortest day of the year! This gives us bags of time to make the most out of the day. Not sure what to do? Well today, I’m sharing my top ideas about how to make the most out of the longest day of the year; from summer strolls to socialising with friends and family. If you can’t make time for these activities on literally the longest day of the year, when can you?!

Head to the beach

Dig out your beach towel and swimsuit and head to the beach for a day of ultimate relaxation. Not a fan of the beach? How about taking a wonder around the pier if you’re close to one? We all love spending way more money than we should in the arcades, usually in the hope that we’ll finally figure out how to ace the claw machines…

Have a BBQ

Nothing says summer like gathering your friends and family for a BBQ and enjoying the sunlight. This is a great way to catch up with all the closest people in your life (and you won’t spend a fortune if everyone contributes to the purchases)!

Use the time for reflection and planning

Take a personal day. Use the extra time for seeing how your year is going so far and making plans and goals for the next few months. With the extra sunlight and the warm weather, this can definitely help motivate you to organise yourself!

Go for a walk

Let’s be honest, nobody really enjoys going for walks when it’s cold and wet, but now the weather is brighter and warmer, get your walking boots on and take a few hours out of your day to go for a walk. It’ll take you away from the screen for a while, and you might even see some cute dogs - bonus!

Watch the sunrise and the sunset

Getting up at 4.43am might sound painful, but not only is it worth it for the Instagram photos, it’s also a good way to motivate yourself to wake up early, and if you’re not shattered, you can stay outside for longer in the evening. Can you think of a better way to start and end your day?

So, those are my top tips for making the most out of the longest day of the year and enjoying the summer solstice. Will you be doing any of these activities?
