Sweet-toothed guide to Glasgow

Studying in Glasgow and up for a cake crawl?

We’ve got you covered. Here are the city’s best cafés and bakeries for sweet-toothed students.

1) Cottonrake Bakery

This chic bakery blends ‘British home baking and French Patisserie’, serving classic cakes and tarts with an elegant twist.

Try their raspberry and rose eclairs, blueberry frangipane tart or a big slice of dressed chocolate cake.

Cottonrake Bakery is a 22-minute subway ride from our student accommodation, Liberty Park.

2) My Home Bakery

With a sign on the door stating, ‘Diets end here’, you know you’re in for some proper indulgence at My Home bakery in Partick.

It’s well-loved for the cinnamon brioche buns, volcano brownies and sticky carrot cake. Not to mention the warm and friendly service.

3) Tantrum Doughnuts

These homemade brioche doughnuts almost look too good to eat.

Almost.

Flavours on the menu include Crème Brulee, Mexican Hot Chocolate, and Milk and Cookies. And there are multiple vegan options too.

You can find Tantrum Doughnuts on Gordon Street in the city centre (6 minutes from our student accommodation, Liberty House.) They also have another shop in the West End.

4) Seb & Mili

Based in Finnieston, Seb and Mili serves up delicious coffee and freshly-made cakes and pastries in a quaint and cosy setting.

They change up the menu regularly, but staple treats include crumbly scones, moreish macarons and giant brownie slabs.

5) Riverhill Coffee House

On entering Riverhill, you’ll be greeted by the sight and smell of tray-bakes, scones, muffins, cookies and tarts.

We recommend ordering the HUGE Victoria Empire biscuit: creamy buttercream and jam, sandwiched between 2 circles of buttery shortbread, drenched in icing and topped with a retro glace cherry.

Wash down with a mug of coffee and feel great about your life choice to study in Glasgow.

Riverhill is a 5-minute walk from Liberty House

Thinking about where you might live next year? Liberty Living has 2 student residences in Glasgow – both all-inclusive and ideally-located in the city.
