3) Take a stroll in the University of Leicester Botanic Gardens

If you’re a nature lover, or know someone who is, a visit to the Botanic Gardens (close to the University of Leicester) is well worth a visit.

Its beautiful grounds span 16 acres and play host to countless flowers, tropical succulents, herbs, woodland and a water garden.

If you’ve been cooped up in the library for hours on end, a stroll around the gardens will offer a much-needed breath of fresh air – literally.


4) Enjoy a cold one in one of Leicester’s oldest pubs

The Globe is thought to have started serving real ales (brewed using spring water drawn from a well under the pub) from as early as 1720!

Steeped in history (and the site of possible hauntings!), The Globe offers an iconic and quirky setting for a reasonably-priced pint with your pals.


3) Have a picnic in Abbey Park

This stunning park sits just a mile from the city centre and, with the River Soar running through it, it makes a perfect and picturesque spot for picnicking.

Grab your pals, some snacks and a blanket, and you’re all set!

Abbey Park also has a boating lake, tennis courts, the remains of a twelfth century abbey, and a lavender maze to keep you entertained. Take your pick!
