Chinese New Year in Liberty Park Liverpool

Back

Chinese New Year is a vital festival to all the Chinese population. We celebrate the New Year coming in various forms of activities based on the different traditional customs during the festival.

However, this year my friends and I, as well as other overseas students cannot travel back home to participate in the reunion of family members. Thus, we enjoyed the New Year at our home in the UK, namely, Liberty Park in Liverpool, which led to us another memorable Spring Festival.

During the dates of the festival, the reception was decorated with the Spring Festival couplets, Chinese lanterns and the character of "fortune", which are the necessities for the houses when we celebrate the Spring Festival back home. Thanks to the effort made by the Liberty Living staff, these decorations made us feel at home in the festival. Moreover, the staff were very kind to say “Happy Chinese New Year” to show their sincere wishes to us when we talked with them.

Another key point is the New Year dinner, owing to the good facilities in the kitchens of Liberty Park, we cooked some delicious Chinese food which is custom in China for the New Year evening. Tasting the hometown’s food, watching the Spring Festival Gala on TV with friends and having a small celebration party all helped make a great Chinese New Year for us all although we were far away from our family and homes.

Many thanks to the Liberty Park staff who are always trying to make us feel comfortable and at home!
