Going to Pride Cymru this month? Stay with us and get in on all the action!
Start proudly painting those rainbows – Pride Cymru returns to Coopers Field, Cardiff on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August 2016. It’s one of the biggest LGBT events Cardiff has to offer; celebrating equality and diversity for yet another year. Kicking off the event on Friday evening at Coopers Field with Party in the Parc, Years and Years are set to storm the stage with two supporting acts in an open air concert. Saturday’s event will follow this up with a spectacular parade through Cardiff city centre and yet another awesome event at Coopers Field.
Pride Cymru is jam packed with fun! It’s not just bands and the parade – it features a whole host of attractions and things to do including food stalls, fairground rides (…for big kids too!), and market stalls. The day is perfect for families and groups of all ages. Music artists such as Danny Beard, Eurovision’s Joe and Jake and… wait for it… B*Witched will all be taking the stage over the weekend, alongside drag favourites Drag King Adam All, Kara Van Park, plus many more.
This year, the event boasts seven stages, tents and arenas: Main Stage, Community Stage, Dance Arena, Family and Youth Area, Vintage Tea Rooms and the Faith Tent. There’s even the first ever PugFest Pride!
You won’t want to miss Saturday’s parade. Filling the streets of Cardiff from 11am and finishing up at Coopers Field next to Cardiff Castle, the party then continues until around 9.30pm in the evening – so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the fun and experience all the action!
Want to get involved? We thought you might! Volunteer opportunities are available for a few hours on the day, assisting in the running of the event. Head on over to their volunteer page here for more information. If you’ve never volunteered before - don’t worry! Training sessions are provided prior to the event. It’s an amazing way to get involved with the LGBTIA+ community, and have some fun at the same time. Are you looking for a spot on the big stage? Pride Cymru welcomes unsigned bands and acts of to perform at the event. If you think you could entertain the crowd, why not apply here?
