Liberty Living's CEO, Charles Marshall takes on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Liberty Living's CEO, Charles Marshall has taken on the charity ice bucket challenge craze, having been challenged by Mark Allan, Chief Executive of Unite Students.

As our students from UCL, City University, KCL, LSE and Cordon Bleu Culinary School, amongst others have recently moved in to their new accommodation at Liberty House, London, we decided it would be a prime location for Charles to complete the challenge and a great excuse to throw a welcome party whilst raising money for the MND Association.

Charles gave a short speech of acceptance, touching on the importance of raising funds for a great cause like the Motor Neurone Disease. He then went on to make his nominations; His son, Harry, Liberty Living's Regional Operations Manager for the north, Neil Ellis, and Brian Welsh of The Student Housing Company.

A great time was had by all. The students mingled around making new friends while they tucked into some nibbles and pizza, with the added entertainment of their accommodation providers' fearless leader getting a large bucket of ice water thrown over him!

The ice bucket challenge is intended to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), a form of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Individuals are challenged to have a bucket of ice poured over them and may then challenge other people to do the same. ALS is a terminal illness that causes muscles to weaken and stiffen.
