Liberty Living’s Fire Safety Information

In light of the tragic events that occurred at Grenfell Tower on 14 June, Liberty Living has reviewed the building construction and materials used in all residences and can confirm that none of our residences use the same brand of external cladding as was used on Grenfell Tower.

As a further precaution, we have contracted with cladding experts and fire safety specialists to investigate all cladding systems present in our portfolio to ensure they meet the required standards in terms of the materials used and methods of installation.

The health and safety of our students and staff is our foremost priority and we have robust fire protection systems across all of our residences. This includes a combination of L(Life) fire alarm and detection systems, automatic smoke ventilation, fire doors, sprinklers and extinguishers. Our fire alarm systems are sound tested weekly and are under contract to be maintained by BAFE accredited contractors.

Taller buildings that require dry risers and/or sprinkler systems have these inspected and tested in line with the required standards. We carry out fire risk assessments in conjunction with accredited third-party experts, and all residences have written fire evacuation policies in place which are tested at least twice a year.

Our properties are staffed 24 hours a day by our own staff and security personnel who are trained to deal with emergencies, supported by a dedicated in-house national Health and Safety team.
