University of Aberdeen accommodation

The University of Aberdeen is split across three colleges which house a broad range of different disciplines in academic schools – and our accommodation is ideal for students to ensure they’re able to study in the right home environment to achieve success.

  1. General information

The University of Aberdeen goes back literally hundreds of years as it was founded right back in 1495 – meaning it’s one of the so-called six ‘Ancient Universities of Britain’. By the late 1800s, it was fully functioning as a modern University and today it proudly sits as one of the best in Scotland.

Currently the University has around 14,500 students; including those who flock from over 120 countries around the world for the opportunity to study there. The University promotes a multi-national, multi-faith community so you will fit in no matter your background.

Teaching at the University of Aberdeen is split across three colleges which house a broad range of different disciplines in academic schools. The research here is broadly world-leading, and as a result there’s a real chance to be part of some truly important pieces of work.

Aberdeen expertly merges the tradition on which it was founded with its focus which is firmly on the future and maintaining its status as a leading 21st Century institution.

With great graduate prospects for all students, there are plenty of reasons to choose the University of Aberdeen.

Our Aberdeen University accommodation is ideal for students to ensure they’re able to study in the right home environment to achieve success.

  2. The campus

There’s so much to the University of Aberdeen campus that it’s difficult to know where to begin. Our University of Aberdeen accommodation puts you at the heart of the action so that you’re close to campus in addition to the beautiful coastal city of Aberdeen.

The Old Aberdeen campus is the historic heart of the University and combines immaculately preserved buildings with state-of-the-art facilities for everything you could possibly want to do at University, from learning time to leisure. The University likes to heavily invest in its campus, based on the idea that to invest in this is really investing in its students.

Campus has so much to do; there’s The Hub where you can grab a bite to eat, socialise or get careers advice, the beautiful Botanic Garden, the Zoology Museum, and even the Butchart Centre, home to the University of Aberdeen Students' Association (AUSA). Here you’ll find everything from activities to welfare advice and even a coffee shop and a bookshop. Sports fans will love the Sports Village and Aquatics Centre provided to keep fit, swim and join in with a number of teams. If that’s not really up your street, there’s an excellent spectator area!

For your educational development, the University’s Library is excellent, as are its top-of-the-range computing laboratories.

Finally, The Foresterhill campus just down the road provides for the provision of high quality health services, education and research. Thanks to its ties with the NHS, students will be in the most capable of hands.

When you stay at our Aberdeen University accommodation, you will be close to each campus and everything which they’re able to offer you.

  3. Undergraduate study

There are a range of options for you to consider when embarking on an undergraduate degree with the University of Aberdeen. The University accepts applicants to an impressive array of courses from the arts to sciences and beyond.

The Scottish system tends to work slightly differently to the way that you might be used to if your current knowledge is of the English one. Courses are typically one year longer than they are in England, and due to the nature of sixth forms and colleges in Scotland; often students will begin their University journey at just seventeen!

There is plenty of scope for success at the University of Aberdeen and you’ll be encouraged to make the most of the excellent resources every step of the way. The University’s aim is to create all round superstars who are better informed than their counterparts and thanks to the level of teaching, this is entirely possible.

When you arrive at the University our Aberdeen University accommodation will help you settle right in to undergraduate life and the prospects it will undoubtedly bring.

  4. Postgraduate study

A postgraduate degree can make candidates much more attractive to potential employers, which is undoubtedly why so many students choose to continue their education in this way. In fact, there are around 3,500 postgraduates at the University studying a multiple of different disciplines.

Taught degrees are similar to undergraduate degrees, however they’re more advanced. The University prides itself on teaching some of the most exciting, innovative courses of this nature in the UK. They can really enhance the chances of a great job upon graduation, or even allow you to make a career change.

Research degrees here are also fantastic. The University’s history is rich in pioneering discovery and you will be challenged to expand your mind and think outside of the box.

There are plenty of opportunities for postgraduates here, as well as elements of flexibility in your degree to really tailor it to your needs, as well as your dreams.

Plenty of postgraduates stay at our University of Aberdeen accommodation because we understand their specific needs. Studying is important to you and we recognise that by providing a great base for you to study from the comfort of your room. There will be many other postgrads in our Aberdeen University accommodation too, so you’ll feel right at home!

You can be assured that you will enjoy a high standard of living in accordance with the Code of Standards, and a prompt resolution to problems should they ever occur when you stay at any of Liberty Living’s residences.

All of Liberty Living’s residences have been accredited by ANUK and run in accordance with the National Code of Standards.

    National Code of Standards logo

Liberty Living follow a distinct set of standards for our student accommodation, called the ANUK/Unipol National Codes. The purpose of these Codes, (membership of which is voluntary), is to provide students with professional housing services.

The standards chosen for the Codes reflect a balance of common sense obligations and responsibilities between landlords and tenants. They also reflect established best practice in the sector and are based on what an average student and their parents would expect of a good quality housing supplier. The standards are supported by the voice of students themselves through the National Union of Students.

What does being a member of the codes mean?

    • Both parties can enjoy the benefits of good standards of housing management and practice.
    • Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced.
    • If problems do occur they can be promptly resolved.
    • The independent complaints procedure operated by the Codes can be used for complaint resolution.
