  1. General information

Aston University is an excellent choice if you want to attend a great public research campus University at the heart of one of Britain’s most interesting cities. Located in Birmingham, this University is one of five in the area, and its origins can be traced back to the late 1800s. In 1966 it received its Royal Charter from the Queen and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today, Aston ranks highly as one of the best universities under 50 years old. Additionally, students at Aston University are likely to enjoy great employment prospects, having secured a renowned reputation with many of the most impressive graduate employers. In fact, Aston actually pioneered the idea of the ‘placement year’ 50 years ago – taken by over 70% of students – meaning it really knows how to produce students with ‘real life’ skills in addition to academic ones. This uptake of a placement year is the highest in the UK.

Students at Aston come from over 130 countries worldwide, so it’s a diverse and culturally engaging community. In total there are around 11,300 students in the University as a whole.

Students tend to be incredibly satisfied with their time at the institution, placing in the top 20 of all of the universities in the UK. Alongside the many, many reasons we could attribute this to, perhaps it’s got something to do with the unusually high amount of millionaires who got their start here!

Our Aston University accommodation is especially tailored for students to succeed, and you have the added bonus of Birmingham city centre on your doorstep.

  2. The campus

All of Aston University's faculties are based on one campus, so everything’s nice and easy regardless of which of the five schools you’ll be attending. There’s plenty of outdoor space in addition to the many buildings, so you’ve always got places to explore and walk around.

There are loads of amenities in addition to the academic facilities on offer, including places to eat, drink and shop, and you can get all the services you might expect, too. There are also places to go to worship or get medical help; the campus really does have it all.

Aston University Library is on four floors and contains over 250,000 books, 800 current printed periodicals and has over 700 reader places. You can access loads of resources online too, and better still it’s open 24/7 to students during term time. Of course, there are also plenty of IT suites dotted all over campus with lots of different software added, so you’ll always have somewhere to complete your work, no matter your circumstances.

If you’re a sports fan, there are sport centres, a swimming pool, a gym and many other facilities like dance studios, floodlit pitches and so much more. You can join one of the many competitive teams or simply chill out with a workout.

You’ll be pleased to discover that our Aston University accommodation is perfectly situated so that you’re close to campus and to the city; in fact, the two go hand in hand.

    National Code of Standards logo

Liberty Living follow a distinct set of standards for our student accommodation, called the ANUK/Unipol National Codes. The purpose of these Codes, (membership of which is voluntary), is to provide students with professional housing services.

The standards chosen for the Codes reflect a balance of common sense obligations and responsibilities between landlords and tenants. They also reflect established best practice in the sector and are based on what an average student and their parents would expect of a good quality housing supplier. The standards are supported by the voice of students themselves through the National Union of Students.

What does being a member of the codes mean?

    • Both parties can enjoy the benefits of good standards of housing management and practice.
    • Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced.
    • If problems do occur they can be promptly resolved.
    • The independent complaints procedure operated by the Codes can be used for complaint resolution.
