Coventry is vibrant, diverse and interesting – just like the residents of our Coventry student accommodation. When you stay with us there’s access to plenty of cultural treats in the area, as well as the city’s two major universities, so you’re in a prime position to make the most of your studies. When you live with us, you’re right in the heart of the action, and we can’t wait to share in your student experience.
A great place to study
Coventry has thrived throughout history, and today is no different. Despite the focus having shifted since its medieval roots, and of course its motoring and engineering past, a new initiative called Phoenix has brought new life to this Midlands city in recent years.
With some modern additions like public squares and gardens, teamed with cosmopolitan bars and cafes, Coventry is on form to compete with some of the bigger cities around the UK.
The students and locals get along brilliantly, although interestingly, students from the two universities don’t tend to mix much! Our student accommodation welcomes people from all over, so you can break the mould if you wish.
Coventry students can enjoy a thoroughly modern city centre, alongside excellent facilities at the universities themselves. Basically, there’s loads to do, so you’ll never be bored.
Food and drink
Coventry has lots of tasty treats for you to try, so you’ll never be stuck for options. Why not try Hummus House for an amazing lunchtime experience? Alternatively, give Court 6 a go – Asian food goes down a storm in Coventry and this is the best of the best.
For your chains and comfort foods, West Orchards isn’t just for shopping. It has loads of restaurants to suit every taste, with practically every cuisine catered to. You name it, you’ve got it!
If you’re staying in Liberty Park, you’ll be spoiled for choice a little closer to home as well. You can feast at the aptly named Feast Junction for a Chinese and Indian buffet, as well as Akbars for Indian cuisine, Aqua for Lebanese, Blue Orchid for Thai and Indian and The Mint featuring food from both India and Bangladesh.
Sports and leisure
The city of Coventry has an exciting array of sports to both take part in and spectate. It has its very own basketball team, the Coventry Crusaders, and a popular ice-hockey team called Coventry Blaze.
For Rugby lovers, Coventry Rugby Club has an impressive new ground at the Butts Arena, and it’s well worth a visit for fans.
If you’re a swimmer, Coventry Sports Centre has an impressive Olympic-sized pool for you to make a splash in, and loads of other sports on offer, too.
Finally, there's a cheap and cheerful PureGym located in Coventry so you can get fit whenever you like.
Culture and music
Coventry is a city which is full of culture and plenty to do, from cinema to theatre and more. There’s the Showcase cinema and the Odeon to cater to film lovers, and the Belgrade Theatre is ideal for people who prefer things up close and personal, with musicals, panto and more. Warwick Arts Centre hosts loads of different exciting performances, from music, to dance and even opera; it also doubles as an art gallery with Mead Gallery.
There are plenty of museums across Coventry, for anyone wanting to swot up their knowledge about the local area, and Coventry Cathedral is both beautiful and majestic. In the summer months, you should make use of Coventry’s outdoor spaces, like the lovely War Memorial Park, where you’re sure to enjoy some fun and games and even the popular Godiva Festival.
You’ll be pleased to know Coventry is on many bands’ touring schedule, and there are plenty of places to go and see all kinds of live music. The Ricoh Arena is well equipped for all your artists and DJs, and the Kasbah is an impressive venue with a large capacity, but still intimate enough to get up close and personal.
Local entertainment is plentiful in Coventry, with loads to do by day or night. With an Odeon Cinema, the Skydome Arena for ice-hockey, gyms and pubs, you’ll have all the usual stuff covered and more.
At night time, when students really come out to play, there’s no shortage of clubs and fun to be had. For an overview, check out the Kasbah or Scholars, or enjoy a more chilled night at The Oak pub.
Coventry is a really accessible city, especially for students. The bus service is really reliable and easy to use, and there are special student rates available for you throughout your time here in our student accommodation and beyond. You can use the buses to travel throughout the city and to and from the Warwick University campus.
The good news is that if you’re trying to save money or keep fit, the area is also really good for cycling and walking.
Of course, with Birmingham on your doorstep, you’re also well connected by train. Birmingham is just 20 minutes away, and London is just over an hour by train, too.
Birmingham also has the aptly named Birmingham Airport for you to make full use of, whether you're visiting family and friends or off on an adventure.
Health and wellbeing
Your health is paramount as a student, which is why there’s excellent provision throughout Coventry.
Coventry University has a Health Centre, The Hub, and there’s a general Coventry NHS Healthcare and Walk-in centre. Of course, no city is complete without a hospital, which is why you can visit University Hospital Coventry.
As with any University, throughout your time at either Warwick or Coventry, you are able to get financial, emotional or general pastoral support in confidence. Liberty Living can help point you in the right direction!
The Residence Team will also always be there for you for anything you need, even if it's just a quick chat.
When it comes to retail, there’s loads to do. You’ve got your high street shops in The West Orchards and Lower Precinct shopping centres, and there are retail parks close by, too.
There’s a traditional indoor market, and even a city centre IKEA store – your room at Liberty Living comes fully furnished, but it’s always fun to have a walk around!
There are specialist shops dotted around too, so you’re bound to find everything you need.
When it comes to keeping yourself and your new flatmates in our Coventry student accommodation fed and watered, you won’t be left out in the cold. There’s loads of supermarkets nearby to our flats, as well as all kinds of other conveniences like banks, a Post Office and so on.
For your studies, there are bookstores and even a library, so there are brilliant resources right at your fingertips, any time you should need them!
Coventry is in the Midlands, and as that name might suggest, it’s truly in the middle of all the action. Just 20 minutes from Birmingham by train, you’ll be close to a fantastically vibrant city, which is great for a brilliant night out or a spot of retail therapy.
Of course, Warwick is blessed with Warwick Castle, which you really must visit, and nearby Kenilworth has a castle as well. You may never be a Royal, but you can at least pretend for the day!
Shakespeare is one of Britain’s true ‘greats’, which is why a little visit to Stratford-Upon-Avon to see the birthplace of his creative genius is more than advised, especially because it’s on your doorstep.
London isn’t exactly a mission at just 1 hour 15 minutes away by train, and finally, you can visit places both nationally and internationally via either cheap National Express coaches, or Birmingham Airport, to live the jet-set life!
Whatever you are looking for, you will find it with Liberty Living in Coventry.

Liberty Living operates in accordance with the National Code of Standards for student accommodation. The Code of Standards is run by ANUK (The Accreditation Network UK), the NUS, and Unipol Student Homes, and is supported by universities across the UK.
Liberty Living joined the Code of Standards to give our students peace of mind. You can be assured that you will enjoy a high standard of living in accordance with the Code of Standards, and a prompt resolution to problems should they ever occur when you stay at any of Liberty Living’s residences.
Liberty Living follow a distinct set of standards for our student accommodation, called the ANUK/Unipol National Codes. The purpose of these Codes, (membership of which is voluntary), is to provide students with professional housing services.
The standards chosen for the Codes reflect a balance of common sense obligations and responsibilities between landlords and tenants. They also reflect established best practice in the sector and are based on what an average student and their parents would expect of a good quality housing supplier. The standards are supported by the voice of students themselves through the National Union of Students.
What does being a member of the codes mean?
- Both parties can enjoy the benefits of good standards of housing management and practice.
- Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced.
- If problems do occur they can be promptly resolved.
- The independent complaints procedure operated by the Codes can be used for complaint resolution.
