De Montfort University accommodation

De Montfort University is the educational home of around 22,000 students at any one time, and our student accommodation in Leicester places you right at the heart of all of the action!

  1. General information

De Montfort University (or DMU) in Leicester is the educational home of around 22,000 students at any one time. A lot of universities can claim to lie at the heart of everything, but at DMU it’s nothing but the truth. The city of Leicester is based in the middle of England, with close links to all of the notable cities that you might imagine. The city itself is its own vibrant and multicultural hub which has truly come into its own in recent years.

The University has origins all the way back in the late 1800s, although it’s only been DMU as we know it today since 1992. Despite its relative youth in this guise, it’s got some impressive experience under its belt.

DMU offers the perfect combination of award-winning teaching from its 2700 strong staff and absolute world-class facilities. They are leaders in so much of what they do, and have come far in their journey. As the ‘most improved’ University in Britain, they offer some of the best chances of graduate employment to those who attend in the whole country. The research being conducted there is exemplary and even life changing.

In actual fact, some of their courses even rival those at Cambridge University – so you just know the quality is high!

Cultural diversity is celebrated across Leicester and this extends to DMU. International students are welcomed with open arms, and currently there are around 2,700 of them from around 127 countries.

The University is distinct, supportive and challenging, offering students a head start in life. At Liberty Living we share these same core values and our De Montfort University accommodation reflects this through and through. When you stay with us in our DMU accommodation, the transition to University life will be as smooth as possible – and we hope it’ll be exciting, too.

  2. The campus

As if the city of Leicester’s own recent investment wasn’t enough, De Montfort University has also spent an impressive amount in recent years on campus rejuvenation which now means that their facilities are practically second-to-none.

In terms of the actual learning environment, you’ll have the best in cutting edge technology. You’ll also have access to the Kimberlin Library, with its huge range of resources, books and services.

You work hard all day, and sometimes all you need is to just relax! The £8 million QEII Leisure Centre has a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool, eight-court sports hall, climbing wall, fitness suite and dance studio. Of course, we know that not everybody wants to be so private about their sport, which is why there are loads of teams and clubs you can sign up to as well.

If you’re just really not feeling the whole sports thing or you just want to get away from it all, De Montfort Students’ Union offers the full blown student experience. There are around 100 teams and societies of the sporting variety and plenty more, so you’ll be bound to find new friends to click with that share your interests. It’s at the heart of the Campus Centre so it’s the perfect place to meet for a drink (or two…). You can even stay on to party at the award-winning venue: Level 1.

You’ll be pleased to discover that our DMU accommodation is impeccably situated so that you’re close to campus and to the city. You’ll never need to miss out on anything integral to your student experience – and yes, that also means you’ve no excuses when it comes to making it to lectures on time!

  3. Undergraduate study

Combining a multitude of courses across the spectrum with outstanding teaching gives De Montfort University quite the unconventional edge when it comes to undergraduate study.

You’ll have plenty of choice so you’ll be able to suitably shape your own future when you study at DMU. Throughout your studies you’ll have access to valuable input from major employers, which is one of the many benefits of the way the courses are designed with employability in mind. You won’t just leave your course a little bit smarter, but you’ll be a little bit savvier with your professional skills, too. DMU actively believe in advocating the benefits of practical experience because they know that’s exactly what businesses are looking for.

In terms of teaching, you’ll be in the best of hands, as DMU have excelled in the most prestigious awards for excellence in higher education year upon year. Plus, more than 170 of their courses are professionally accredited, further boosting that chance of finding a job once you leave.

DMU graduates do remarkable things, and our DMU accommodation can help ensure you’ll be one of them. We perfectly prepare you for independent living and balancing those all-important studies with a fun and active social life alongside other people in your shoes.

  4. Postgraduate study

Postgraduate study can open plenty of doors for students in terms of their future, and the opportunities De Montfort will offer you really are no exception to this rule.

You can choose from a more structured approach to postgraduate study in the form of a taught degree, where you will be supported at every step of the way whilst being encouraged to develop your own critical thinking, too.

When you undertake a research based degree, you will really come into your own. DMU has a long history of innovative, life-changing research, which has gained them recognition all around the world. They have the resources and the power to get you on board with loads of ‘real world’ projects which will combine your newly found academic expertise in your field with an impact on the greater good for the public as a whole.

At DMU you will gain skills and experience which will allow you go to go on to a brilliant future. Our DMU accommodation is ideal for building on your knowledge and ultimately your career, because it places you right on the doorstep of your studies with all of the right facilities to be able to carry on efficiently at home.
