When living in Liverpool, you’ll soon discover Bold Street, one of the coolest parts of the city. It’s also absolutely full of ethnically diverse cuisine from awesome restaurants. Chinatown is just around the corner as well.

Things to do

Our student residences in Liverpool are never too far from the action. When the sun goes down, you can try out an abundance of bars and clubs. Concert Square is a lively student hotspot, whereas Albert Dock is the more upmarket side of town. Whether you want top tunes or cocktails, you can have it all. Liverpool has plenty of cool offerings, from bingo raves to password bars.

Looking for a chill way to spend your free time? Liverpool One shopping centre is excellent, with plenty of shops, restaurants and even a park called Chavasse Park at the top. If you love cinema, it also has an ODEON, but there’s also FACT a short walk away for something a little more independent.

When you arrive in the city, be prepared to choose an allegiance. Liverpool FC play at Anfield, and Everton FC plays at Goodison Park. All that’s left to decide - are you a Red or a Blue?

Arts & culture

Without a doubt, Liverpool would not be the city that it is today without The Beatles. Music is still important, and venues like the O2 Academy, M&S Bank Arena, Arts Club and Camp and Furnace keep this spirit alive. You’ll find different kinds of live music and DJs most days of the week, close to your student flats in Liverpool.

If you prefer other types of entertainment, there are several theatres in the local area that you can visit. The Liverpool Empire Theatre is renowned for having some of the best live performances outside of London's West End, while other options include the Everyman and the Playhouse. Don’t forget to check out student theatre as well.

Liverpool is also home to the country’s oldest orchestra – the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra – and the largest collection of national museums and art galleries in the UK outside of London.

Health & wellbeing

Liverpool’s universities and colleges have plenty of facilities on campus to help you to stay fit and active, plus there are people you can speak to if you’re having any issues.

Around the city you will also find an impressive collection of gyms; many open 24 hours and some of them even offering student discounts. For a really unique way to stay fit, head to Airborn Academy, where you can give everything from freerunning to cheerleading and even aerial silks and hoop a go.

If you prefer to get outside in the fresh air, Chavasse Park is a haven within the city limits and is the perfect place to take a stroll in the summer months.
