  1. Social scenes

Located within the heart of Liverpool’s University district, Liberty Atlantic Point is located a 5 minute bus ride from the city centre, and if you fancy a walk, it’s just 15 minutes away. The residence benefits from being a short distance from local amenities, bars, pubs and restaurants, catering for all cultures and tastes – so you’ll never be short of things to see and do.

The area of Concert Square in the city centre is popular among students and is one of the liveliest spots in the city. The Square has an array of bars, including Revolution, Walkabout, and The Krazyhouse, three floors of absolute madness. Matthew Street is also a popular student haunt, and it’s widely known for The Cavern Club – where the world famous group, The Beatles honed their skills.

The Albert Dock is the more up-market side of Liverpool and is just a brisk 20 minute walk from your new student accommodation. The Dock is famous in Liverpool and makes up the largest group of Grade 1 listed buildings in the country – the super posh kinds that are protected by law! Albert Dock has loads to see and do, including: international art, award-winning museums and attractions, great bars and restaurants, gift shops and two hotels. With their closeness to Liberty Atlantic Point, the fancy, rather more cultured drinking establishments are great for that special night out – just make sure that you dress to impress!

Food lovers will relish in the fact that Liverpool city centre has hundreds of diverse places to eat out. Some tasty favourites to try include Almost Famous, San Carlo, Yard Bird and The Art School, which hopes to get the city’s very first Michelin Star!

  2. What's around

Liberty Atlantic Point is located on Naylor Street, less than a 10 minute walk to Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) Byrom Street campus.

The city centre can also be reached on foot in 15 minutes and is home to an abundance of high street and independent stores. The stunning Liverpool One, traditional Clayton Square and up-market The Met Quarter are the main shopping centres in the city and feature many high street names and independent boutiques – perfect for some retail therapy in your spare time.

If you’re a fan of art and history, why not take a trip to World Museum? It’s only a 10 minute walk from the residence, covering extensive collections from around the world. Walker Art Gallery is also close by and houses beautiful paintings, sculptures and decorative art from the 13th century, right the way through to the present day. The lecture theatre doesn’t need to be the only place you soak up a little bit of culture.

If you enjoy the theatre, both Liverpool Empire Theatre and The Royal Court Theatre are just a 15 minute walk from Liberty Atlantic Point. The theatres show an array of concerts and shows, also featuring some well-known comedy acts – there are discounted tickets available for students too. Additionally, Liverpool Echo Arena in King’s Dock is a 30 minute walk or 10 minute taxi journey away and hosts an assortment of events featuring some international superstars – and King’s Dock also has a selection of restaurants and shops.

A visit to the Beatles Story will give an insight into the fab fours’ lives, culture and of course, music. The International Beatleweek Festival is held in August and offers a range of entertainment, with live gigs, exhibitions, memorabilia sales, guest speakers and sightseeing tours.

  3. Getting active

Students at Liverpool John Moores University will benefit from free membership to Lifestyles gyms across the city in their first year, and  students are able to use gyms across the different campuses. The nearest Lifestyles gym to Liberty Atlantic Point is at Everton Park, and buses run there frequently and stop right outside. The sports centre there also has many activities including; a swimming pool, football pitches, squash and badminton courts.

If you enjoy football, Liverpool FC and Everton FC are located outside the city centre, roughly a 20 minute bus ride away from Liverpool city centre. Tickets for match days and tours of the stadiums are available for both Liverpool at Anfield and Everton at Goodison Park. If you prefer lower league football then you can take a ferry across the Mersey to watch Tranmere Rovers FC – it’s cheaper and the atmosphere is pretty much the same!

If golf is your forte, take a short trip across the water to nearby Hoylake, where you can check out the home of the Open Championship at The Royal Liverpool Golf Club. Also, sports fanatics can head straight over to Wavertree Sports Park which houses the Wavertree Athletics Centre and the Liverpool Aquatics Centre.

  4. Travel and transport

Liberty Atlantic Point is located next to excellent transport links making it simple to get around the city and beyond. The main train station is Liverpool Lime Street, located a 20 minute walk away from the residence. The station provides a link to local and national destinations across the UK, although there are also three other stations located in the city centre. You can head to nearby cities including Chester and Manchester which are only 45 minutes away by train, and Blackpool can be reached in an hour and half.

Bus services serve the local area well; the nearest bus stop is located on Byrom Street, just a few minutes’ walk from Liberty Atlantic Point. Some useful bus services that run in this area include; 473, 892, x2, 55, 56, 20, 47, 52 and the 52a.

The city is also served by Liverpool John Lennon Airport; perfect for international students and explorers alike. There are bus and train services which run regularly between the airport and the city centre. Enhancing your Student Experience

Our dedicated Student Experience programme has been created to ensure that every single one of you has the best stay possible when you live with us. Whether it is coming along to our social events and activities to meet new people, getting involved in fundraising and volunteering for some amazing charities, or popping along to drop in sessions to seek advice on finances, wellbeing and careers, we have something for you.

We understand that University can sometimes be an overwhelming experience, but don’t worry our team are great at giving advice on and mediating in all kinds of welfare issues that you may experience, such as homesickness, difficulty in getting on with flatmates, noise complaints, relationship problems, partying too hard and having trouble with studies.

Also, if you need more guidance, we have great relationships with our University partners and their support departments to help and guide you.

Follow the link to find out more about our Student Experience programme.

  5. Navigation_pink_International.svg International students

The best choice for international students

Coming to the UK to study from abroad? Welcome! We love catering to students from all over the world and learning a thing or two about their culture. Luckily, we’ve already got plenty of experience with this as we currently have around 4,500 international students staying with us, so you’re certainly not alone.

When you stay with Liberty Living your safety is the most important thing to us. We understand that you’re a long way from home and you want to feel comfortable and secure at all times. We have amazing staff on hand 24 hours a day, from the Residence Team, right through to Security who’ll keep an eye out for you overnight as well as CCTV. Contents insurance covering your possessions is included as standard in your rent, so your stuff is protected, and any parcels you have delivered will be well looked after until you can come to collect them.

Of course, we want you to have fun and make the most of your time here, too. You can always come to us with any problems,, or even just for a chat. A new country can be confusing, so we’ve got loads of tips for things to do, too – just ask! Many of our staff members are multilingual, so don’t be shy if English isn’t your first language; if we can’t immediately offer support in your native tongue, we’ll point you in the direction of someone who can. We’ll do our best to help you settle in and make friends, and we can point you in the right direction for any visa, welfare or University advice you may need.

We can’t wait to meet you!

We’d also be the last ones to split up a relationship, so you can even share a room with a partner thanks to our room shares.

Perhaps you’re coming back for your second or third year with us, or maybe you all met on your course – it doesn’t matter, we’d love to have you stay with Liberty Living. We’ll welcome you (or welcome you back!) with open arms. As an added incentive, we’ll even help you settle in, too. Book in a group of four or more people and we’ll give you a £100 shopping voucher for a supermarket of your choice. Better get sharpening those cooking skills – you’ll all have to do your fair share!
