  1. Social scenes

Based in the heart of Liverpool; just a 10 minute walk from the city centre, and within easy walking distance to Liverpool John Moores and the University of Liverpool, Liberty Prospect Point is arguably in the perfect location for students.

Liverpool’s nightlife is renowned as being among the most vibrant and diverse in the UK. The popular student areas are just minutes away from the residence and they have plenty of friendly pubs, restaurants and takeaways to suit your student budget. If you fancy a cheap and cheerful evening, Liverpool Student Union holds a range of nights and social meetings throughout the academic year and is only a 20 minute walk from the residence.

If you fancy eating out, or aren’t in the mood to cook, The Buffet Club and Food Express are located a few seconds from Liberty Prospect Point. There is also a Starbucks just around the corner, perfect for a drink or snack on the go or for a catch up with friends. If you venture more into the city centre, you will find hundreds of exciting places to eat out. Some tasty Liverpool favourites include the much-loved Yard Bird, Almost Famous, San Carlo and Liverpool’s latest bid for the city’s first Michelin Star, The Art School

The city centre is home to an abundance of bars, clubs, and music venues to keep you entertained through your time in University. Concert Square is popular among students and is one of the liveliest spots in Liverpool. The Square has an array of well-known bars, including Revolution, Walkabout, and The Krazyhouse. Matthew Street is also a popular student and tourist destination, as it is widely known for The Cavern Club – where the world famous group The Beatles were ‘born’. Albert Dock is a short distance from the accommodation and represents the more up-market side of town with its range of fancy places to eat and drink. Finally, there are loads of live music venues dotted across the compact city centre, including the O2 Academy and the Arts Club.

  2. What's around

Liberty Prospect Point is located on Moira Road, and is ideally located for students studying at Liverpool John Moores University and the University of Liverpool. The two universities are located under 15 minutes walking distance from the residence.

Liverpool Prospect Point is located a 10 minute walk from the city centre, where you will find a number of things to do, including some fantastic entertainment venues and an abundance of stores. There are various shopping centres located around the city, namely Liverpool One, Clayton Square and The Met Quarter, which all have a vast range of high street shops and independent boutiques.

Liverpool has more museums and art galleries than any other city outside of London. The World Museum is a 20 minute walk from the accommodation and covers extensive collections from around the world. Walker Art Gallery is also close by and houses beautiful paintings, sculptures and decorative art from the 13th century, right the way through to 2015. The Museum of Liverpool is also a sight to be seen.

Liverpool Echo Arena in Kings Dock is a 30 minute walk away and hosts an assortment of events featuring some international superstars; it also has a selection of restaurants and shops.

There are theatres galore around the city, Liverpool Empire Theatre and The Royal Court Theatre are just over a 15 minute walk away and offers students discounted tickets to an array of concerts and comedy shows, as well as more traditional plays and ballets.

Finally, a visit to The Beatles Story will give an insight into the most iconic band of all time. The annual International Beatleweek Festival is held in August and offers a range of entertainment, with live gigs, exhibitions, memorabilia sales, guest speakers and sightseeing tours.

  3. Getting active

If you like to keep fit, Liberty Prospect point is conveniently located 2 minutes from Momentum Gym and offers affordable membership for students.

Liverpool University is only a 10 minute walk away and has a Sports and Fitness Centre available for students and the general public. Additionally, students of Liverpool John Moores University benefit from receiving free membership in their first year to Lifestyle gyms across the city. The nearest Lifestyles fitness centre can be found 10 minutes away on Victoria Street in the city centre.

If you’re a professional sport fan, Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs are located outside the city centre, just a short bus ride away from the accommodation. Tickets for match days and tours of the stadiums are available for both Liverpool at Anfield and Everton at Goodison Park. If you prefer lower league football then you can take a ferry across the Mersey to watch Tranmere Rovers F.C. It might not be quite the same as watching the Premier League, but it’s a great way to soak up the atmosphere at a much lower cost.

  4. Travel and transport

Liberty Prospect Point is located a 10 minute walk from Liverpool’s thriving city centre. Transport around the city is extremely frequent and the residence is close to excellent transport links, making it easy to get across the city quickly.

Bus services run regularly and there are bus routes which run right outside the accommodation. Located just one minute away on Prescot Street is a bus which runs into the city centre, and to other routes around Liverpool. The 10, 10A and 10B run frequently into the city centre and back to the residence. There are also bus services which run to the University campuses, these are; the 75, 76 and the 78.

The main train station for the city is Liverpool Lime Street; the station provides a link to local and national destinations across the UK. Three other train stations are also dotted around the city, taking to local areas including the seaside and the Wirral. Nearby cities worth visiting include Chester and Manchester which are only 45 minutes away by train, and Blackpool can be reached in 1 hour 30 minutes.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is the main airport for the area; there are bus and train services which run regularly between the airport and the city centre. Furthermore there is a National Express Coach stop located a 20 minute walk away from the residence at Liverpool One. Additionally, Liverpool is on the Megabus route so an inexpensive trip home or to see friends is possible.

  5. Local amenities

Liberty Prospect Point is in an ideal location, benefiting from having a selection of local amenities on its doorstep for your convenience.

Attached to the residence are a number of essential stores including a pharmacy, a supermarket, post office, Papa John’s pizza and other fast food takeaway chains. There is a Lidl and Tesco Express supermarket only 5 minutes’ walk away. However, if you’re looking for more variety there is a large Asda supermarket, which can be reached by taxi or via bus in about 10 minutes located on Smithdown road.

Liverpool Central Library and LJMU Library are a short distance from the residence; additionally, the University of Liverpool’s Harold Cohen Library and Sydney Jones Library are also 5 minutes’ walk away. We're also close to LJMU's Mount Pleasant campus with its award winning John Lennon Art and Design Building and their Liverpool Science Park.

Liberty Prospect Point is located near various banks; Barclays, Natwest and HSBC banks can be found near the University of Liverpool campus; less than 10 minutes’ walk away.

  6. Your wellbeing

The city’s universities offer free advice on careers, financial worries, and student welfare or anything else which you may need help with.

Liberty Prospect Point is located opposite the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, which has an accident and emergency department. The University Dental Hospital is also adjacent to this. There is a Lloyds Pharmacy attached to the residence.

Brownlow Health is a NHS GP practice providing general medical and student health services around the city centre. Some of their practices are located within the University of Liverpool buildings; just a short walk from Prospect Point. There is also a walk-in centre on David Lewis Street where you do not need to make an appointment; and they also provide sexual health advice as well as emergency contraception.

The residence is never too far from the help you may need and the accommodation team at Liberty Prospect Point are always available to give advice. Don’t ever suffer in silence – you’re not alone!
