  1. General information

Liverpool John Moores University – or LJMU for short – has come a long way from its roots in the 1800s and its polytechnic days, having been made a bona fide University back in 1992. After winning the Queen’s Anniversary Prize back in 2005, it cemented itself as an institution to be proud of for the city of Liverpool. These days, it hosts over 24,000 students every year and has a reputation of being one of the best places to spend your student days in the North of England.

The University is super popular and as a result it’s highly sought after, with thousands upon thousands of applications per year. If accepted, these students are able to study from a huge range of academic and vocational subjects, taught by leading experts to ensure every success.

LJMU is proud of its ethos as well as its core values. They aim to create a community for learning and knowledge, with switched-on students who are forward thinking and not afraid to challenge convention. As a result the institution is respected globally, which in turn leads to students who want to attend from all over the world. In fact, Liverpool John Moores University has students from over 100 countries in attendance.

Our LJMU accommodation is especially tailored for students to ensure their time at Liverpool John Moores is spent comfortably and happily.

  2. The campus

Liverpool is an incredible and modern city, which is why you’ll be lucky to experience it during your time at LJMU. The University is centrally located so that you can make the most of its great facilities, but also the city itself.

There are three campuses at Liverpool John Moores, and in recent years they’ve had multi-million pound investments into them. They’re not stopping there though. With 44 impressive buildings and counting, they’re always looking for opportunities to expand and grow.

All three campuses are a bustling hive of activity, and two of them in particular are in a great location for when you stay at our LJMU accommodation. Both the City Campus and the Mount Pleasant Campus are within walking distance of one another, with plenty of great facilities on each.

Libraries are modern and full of the best resources at LJMU, and your nearest will either be Aldham Robarts or Avril Robarts. There are also fantastic laboratories to make the most innovative of discoveries, and plenty of facilities to excel in the arts, too.

Did you know that it’s been proven that sporty students make more money on average than those who didn’t get involved in any at uni? Sports fans will be happy – there are loads of facilities available to you and teams you can join.

Leisure time is well catered to on campus, and the Student Union is at the heart of the action for fun and games, food and drink, as well as welfare advice and support.

Our Liverpool John Moores accommodation puts you right in the middle of everything so that you can make the most of your time studying in Liverpool, ensuring that you never miss out on anything exciting or integral to your student experience.

  3. Undergraduate study

If you’re ready for an exciting and stimulating higher education journey, Liverpool John Moores University is the place to be. There are absolutely loads of courses that you’ll be able to study, in the arts, sciences and many more subject areas.

When you come to LJMU, you’ll benefit from a combination of excellent teaching, support and crucially, a mixture of emphasis on the different important aspects of your course. For example, you won’t simply be taught out of books and with essays; instead you’ll be encouraged to gain practical experience. At LJMU, the ‘World Of Work’ award gets students ready for employment with help with interviews, CVs and most importantly, real world work experience which will really help with employability. There are also initiatives to get students involved in volunteer partnerships.

When you enrol at LJMU, our Liverpool John Moores accommodation is the ideal choice for a new home to settle into in the vibrant city of Liverpool. You’ll be sure to make plenty of friends and you’ve got exactly the right things in your room to make the most of your time saying with us.

  4. Postgraduate study

LMJU have laid it out pretty simply – their postgraduate courses will help you in numerous ways. They argue that you’ll be more employable – leaving to go on to a successful career, rather than just a job –  and that you’ll leave a specialist in your field, with more entrepreneurial skills and higher earning potential. Their research (of which 77% is world leading!) will in time become your research, as you’ll have a chance to have a hand in some of the most important discoveries and developments of our time.

You’ll have the option to undertake a taught or research led degree, and you’ll be surrounded by other intellectuals with a similar frame of mind to you.

Plenty of postgraduates from all over the world call our Liverpool John Moores accommodation their new home. When you join them, you’ll be surrounded by ambitious and driven people who’ll inspire you to carry on working hard. We’ve got added WiFi, in addition to the fact that our LJMU accommodation is in a great location for heading to campus, so you’ll be in the best position to succeed.

Liberty Living joined the Code of Standards to give our students peace of mind. All of Liberty Living’s residences have been accredited by ANUK and run in accordance with the National Code of Standards.

    National Code of Standards logo

Liberty Living follow a distinct set of standards for our student accommodation, called the ANUK/Unipol National Codes. The purpose of these Codes, (membership of which is voluntary), is to provide students with professional housing services.

The standards chosen for the Codes reflect a balance of common sense obligations and responsibilities between landlords and tenants. They also reflect established best practice in the sector and are based on what an average student and their parents would expect of a good quality housing supplier. The standards are supported by the voice of students themselves through the National Union of Students.

What does being a member of the codes mean?

    • Both parties can enjoy the benefits of good standards of housing management and practice.
    • Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced.
    • If problems do occur they can be promptly resolved.
    • The independent complaints procedure operated by the Codes can be used for complaint resolution.
