  1. A great place to study

Nottingham is a pretty central English city which is home to around 320,000 people – and that’s just in the main urban areas! As such, there’s plenty to do, and plenty of students to make you feel like you fit in (which you most certainly will).

There are plenty of higher education institutions and colleges there – including Nottingham Trent University, University of Nottingham, and Nottingham College – so you’re bound to get a top-quality education, no matter where you choose to study. Of course, it’s not all work and no play, and you’ll find plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and activities to partake in during your down time as well.

Our Nottingham student accommodation is close to everything, so you’ll never feel left out of the action!

  2. Food and drink

Nottingham has all your student staples when it comes to food and drink (basically meaning that it’s got the usual suspects on offer, including the likes of Nando’s, Pizza Express, Jamie’s Italian and so on), but it’s also got loads of hidden gems and independents, too.

Fans of Asian cuisine will love Anoki’s Indian or Mandarin Restaurant for Chinese, whilst Emilio’s is the place to go if you’re into Greek food!

Nottingham also has loads of amazing pub grub, too, including at Pit & Pendulum, which also makes for a quirky night out alongside some interesting cocktails on offer.

Fancy something meatier? Red’s True BBQ is the home of carnivores everywhere, and it makes the perfect special treat for students. If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, don’t worry – Tarn Thai offers delicious Thai food with loads of interesting vegan options that everyone will enjoy!

You’ll never be hungry or bored when you stay in our Nottingham student accommodation, as we’re really close to so many amazing places to eat and drink.

  3. Sports and leisure

Sport makes up a big part of life in Nottingham. Football fans can enjoy watching a Nottingham Forest FC match, by cheering on their new home team! Not your thing? Don’t worry! Nottingham also has Nottingham RFC as well, for all those rugby fans out there.

Of course, some people would rather ‘do’ than ‘see’, and we support that! Nottingham is home to plenty of leisure centres and gyms, such as the super cheap one ran by The Gym, and its open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

All of the universities and colleges in Nottingham have their own excellent sporting facilities. So, no matter what you want to try – or watch – you’ll be able to do it with ease.

  4. Culture and music

Do you like music? Great news! Nottingham is an ideal city for you.

Lots of local, national and international acts alike can be found playing at Rock City or The Rescue Rooms. If you like a more intimate experience, you can also check out bands at The Maze. The huge, big name acts can be found at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena. Any of these venues provide a great night out!

Theatre is also a big deal in Nottingham, and you have several to choose from depending on your interests. The Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall is nearby for you to enjoy, as is the Nottingham Playhouse. You can enjoy a fun night filled with drama – of the good kind – or even some comedy.

Nottingham has a lot of cultural heritage and fun things to do to pass the time. You can’t possibly live in Nottingham without at least one trip to Nottingham Castle, which doubles as a museum and art gallery. You’ll find plenty more museums throughout the area, too.

The City of Caves is a fantastic day out; highlighting a spooky network of caves in the city (as it implies), dating all the way back to the Dark Ages.

  5. Local entertainment

No matter what you like to do in your down time, you’ll find it in Nottingham.

The nightlife here is really varied, and there’s stuff to do whether you want a cocktail, a dive bar, a gig venue or a rowdy club.

Every student has to check out Baa Bar and Revolution – they’re student staples for a big night out in town! Try heading to Coco Tang, the new ‘edgy night out’ afterwards; you won’t be disappointed!

However, if you’re looking for something a little bit different, Rock City hosts a weekly rock night, whilst The Bodega offers a bit of an indie vibe.

Not everyone likes to go out for a drink, and that’s alright! Nottingham also has lots of cinemas on offer – you have five to choose from, and your nearest is Cineworld in the Cornerhouse. With its 14 screens, you’ll never miss the latest releases!

Fancy something a little different? How about adventuring on fun day trips to Sherwood Forest, to explore the local legend of Robin Hood? The legend never dies when you live so close by! If the outdoors is your thing, you can continue in this vein with a visit to Arboretum Park. It’s right around the corner from you, and can provide you with some much needed rest!

  6. Getting around

Like most major British cities, Nottingham is well-served with both bus and train services, too. However, Nottingham is also blessed with a fantastic tram service as well, making things even easier to get around!

When travelling around locally, Nottingham City Transport is there to help. They offer great discounts for students, and even night buses, to ensure that you can get back home after a night out safely. Alternatively, you can use a taxi or a trusted taxi sharing app.

If you need to venture out of Nottingham for any reason, Nottingham has a train station with links to many other cities and towns. There’s also a Coach Station, as well as East Midlands Airport, too.

Our student accommodation in Nottingham is really ideally located. You can walk around the city with ease, but you’re also close enough to various public transport services should you need them.

  7. Health and wellbeing

Liberty Living cares about the welfare of all of our students when you stay with us, and you won’t be an exception.

We hope you never need to go to a hospital, but if you do, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is on hand to help. It’s a merger of Nottingham City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre, so it has everything you may need.

You’ll also find doctors, dentists and specialist services throughout Nottingham as well. You’ll find sexual health facilities dotted all over the city for your convenience and peace of mind, too.

Living at University is an independent experience, but that doesn’t mean you’re alone. Your University will have plenty of advice available, on matters ranging from your finances through to your mental health.

Our student housing in Nottingham also has a wonderful Residence Team on hand to help if you need someone to point you in the right direction (or even just for a bit of a chat).

  8. Local amenities

All of the usual high street brands are dotted around the city, so buying your weekly groceries will be an absolute piece of cake. When you fancy treating yourself to a takeaway, there are plenty available locally so you’ll be able to eat whether you fancy cooking or not.

If you’re looking to do a spot of retail therapy, there’s the Intu Victoria Centre and Intu Broadmarsh, alongside many other popular shops in the city centre. If you need an outfit for a big night out, Nottingham’s got you covered!

When it comes to a more ‘hip’ approach to shopping – look no further than The Lace Market. It’s got everything you need, and more – and who doesn’t like to bag a bargain!

  9. Further afield

Nottingham benefits from being in the middle of the UK, so you’ll find it relatively easy to get around to other cities which are located nearby, including Sheffield. And those which are slightly further afield, including London – which you can reach in just under 2 hours.

Whatever you choose you will be sure to find it when you stay with Liberty Living in Nottingham.

  7. Navigation_pink_Ratings.svg Accreditations

Liberty Living operates in accordance with the National Code of Standards for student accommodation. The Code of Standards is run by ANUK (The Accreditation Network UK), the NUS, and Unipol Student Homes, and is supported by universities across the UK.

Liberty Living joined the Code of Standards to give our students peace of mind. You can be assured that you will enjoy a high standard of living in accordance with the Code of Standards, and a prompt resolution to problems should they ever occur when you stay at any of Liberty Living’s residences.

All of Liberty Living’s residences have been accredited by ANUK and run in accordance with the National Code of Standards.

    National Code of Standards logo

Liberty Living follow a distinct set of standards for our student accommodation, called the ANUK/Unipol National Codes. The purpose of these Codes, (membership of which is voluntary), is to provide students with professional housing services.

The standards chosen for the Codes reflect a balance of common sense obligations and responsibilities between landlords and tenants. They also reflect established best practice in the sector and are based on what an average student and their parents would expect of a good quality housing supplier. The standards are supported by the voice of students themselves through the National Union of Students.

What does being a member of the codes mean?

    • Both parties can enjoy the benefits of good standards of housing management and practice.
    • Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced.
    • If problems do occur they can be promptly resolved.
    • The independent complaints procedure operated by the Codes can be used for complaint resolution.
