Nottingham for students
Nottingham is a pretty central English city which is home to a few hundred thousand people in the main urban areas. As such, there’s plenty to do, and plenty of students to help you fit in easily.
There are plenty of higher education institutions and colleges, including Nottingham Trent University, University of Nottingham, and Nottingham College, so you’re bound to get a top-quality education, no matter where you choose to study.
Of course, it’s not all work and no play, and you’ll find plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and activities to partake in during your down time as well.
Nottingham is apparently one of the UK’s youngest cities, which means that they have one of the largest populations of people under 30.
Nottingham has all your student staples when it comes to food and drink, including the usual national chains as well as loads of hidden gems and independents.
Fans of different kinds of Asian cuisine will love all of the delicious options available, from Indian to Chinese to Thai. Reflective of its cosmopolitan nature, there’s also loads of amazing Italian and even Greek options too.

Things to do
If you’re looking to do a spot of retail therapy, there’s the Intu Victoria Centre and Intu Broadmarsh, alongside many other popular shops that you’ll already be familiar with in the city centre. When it comes to an on-trend approach to shopping, look no further than The Lace Market, with everything you need at a low cost. Who doesn’t like to bag a bargain?

Arts & culture
You can’t possibly live in Nottingham without at least one trip to Nottingham Castle, which doubles as a museum and art gallery. You’ll find plenty more museums throughout the area as well. If the outdoors is your thing, you can continue in this vein with a visit to Arboretum Park. It’s right around the corner from you and is an excellent place to go for a walk.

When travelling around locally, Nottingham City Transport is there to help. They offer great discounts for students and even night buses, to ensure that you can get back home after a night out safely. Alternatively, you can use a taxi or a trusted taxi sharing app.
If you need to venture out of Nottingham for any reason, Nottingham has a train station with links to many other cities and towns. There’s also a coach station, as well as East Midlands Airport.

Liberty Living operates in accordance with the National Code of Standards for student accommodation. The Code of Standards is run by ANUK (The Accreditation Network UK), the NUS, and Unipol Student Homes, and is supported by universities across the UK.
Liberty Living joined the Code of Standards to give our students peace of mind. You can be assured that you will enjoy a high standard of living in accordance with the Code of Standards, and a prompt resolution to problems should they ever occur when you stay at any of Liberty Living’s residences.
Liberty Living follow a distinct set of standards for our student accommodation, called the ANUK/Unipol National Codes. The purpose of these Codes, (membership of which is voluntary), is to provide students with professional housing services.
The standards chosen for the Codes reflect a balance of common sense obligations and responsibilities between landlords and tenants. They also reflect established best practice in the sector and are based on what an average student and their parents would expect of a good quality housing supplier. The standards are supported by the voice of students themselves through the National Union of Students.
What does being a member of the codes mean?
- Both parties can enjoy the benefits of good standards of housing management and practice.
- Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced.
- If problems do occur they can be promptly resolved.
- The independent complaints procedure operated by the Codes can be used for complaint resolution.
