Nottingham for students

Nottingham is a pretty central English city which is home to a few hundred thousand people in the main urban areas. As such, there’s plenty to do, and plenty of students to help you fit in easily.

There are plenty of higher education institutions and colleges, including Nottingham Trent University, University of Nottingham, and Nottingham College, so you’re bound to get a top-quality education, no matter where you choose to study.

Of course, it’s not all work and no play, and you’ll find plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and activities to partake in during your down time as well.

Nottingham is apparently one of the UK’s youngest cities, which means that they have one of the largest populations of people under 30.

Eating out

Nottingham has all your student staples when it comes to food and drink, including the usual national chains as well as loads of hidden gems and independents.

Fans of different kinds of Asian cuisine will love all of the delicious options available, from Indian to Chinese to Thai. Reflective of its cosmopolitan nature, there’s also loads of amazing Italian and even Greek options too.

Love burgers or BBQ meats? There are loads of options for carnivorous meat-lovers, alongside lots of vegan and vegetarian places to balance it out.

Like most big cities, there are also loads of awesome places to grab some good, old-fashioned pub grub to enjoy with your new friends from your private student accommodation in Nottingham.

Things to do

If you’re looking to do a spot of retail therapy, there’s the Intu Victoria Centre and Intu Broadmarsh, alongside many other popular shops that you’ll already be familiar with in the city centre. When it comes to an on-trend approach to shopping, look no further than The Lace Market, with everything you need at a low cost. Who doesn’t like to bag a bargain?

The nightlife around the corner from your student accommodation in Nottingham is really varied, and there’s stuff to do whether you want a cocktail, a casual bar or a rowdy club. The city has plenty of purpose-built student nights, as well as edgier offerings too.

Nottingham is also known as a city of sport, so why not go to watch Nottingham Forest or Notts County at the football one weekend?

Arts & culture

You can’t possibly live in Nottingham without at least one trip to Nottingham Castle, which doubles as a museum and art gallery. You’ll find plenty more museums throughout the area as well. The City of Caves is a fantastic day out; highlighting a spooky network of caves dating all the way back to the Dark Ages.

Do you like music? Great news! Nottingham is an ideal city for you. Lots of local, national and international acts alike can be found playing at Rock City or The Rescue Rooms.
