  1. Social scenes

Nottingham has an amazingly fun social side to it, and it’s one that you’ll get to know very well when you spend your time here as a student. Liberty Point is right by the city centre, so you’ll be close to all of the fun and exciting things on offer.

If food is your forte, you’re in good company. Liberty Point is on Curzon Street, which is surrounded by loads of different places to enjoy a meal influenced by cuisines from all over the world. World Cuisine Buffet is a true testimony to that fact, and you don’t have to cover quite the same distance –you can reach it in just ten minutes’ walk from Liberty Point!

When you step into the city centre, you’ll also find all of the usual suspects when it comes to national chain restaurants. You’ve got Nando’s, Yo Sushi, Pizza Express and Wagamama, to name just a few!

Of course, you can’t go to University without sampling the nightlife from time to time (or all the time, depending). You’ll have plenty of options when it comes to places to go, to suit everyone’s tastes and budgets. Why not try Pryzm? You’d be silly not to – it’s only 9 minutes from your door to theirs! Pit & Pendulum is also a really good night out, whereas Baa Bar is a fab place to get the party started.

You’ve got some really cool options when it comes to live music as well, whether you want to see big names or local acts. Rock City is always a fun time, but The Rescue Rooms and Maze are also worth a look, too.

When it comes to having a jaunt around the city, you’ll find plenty of places to hang out, from cafés to a castle (yep, really). There’s a really awesome student vibe in Nottingham, so make sure you try out everything it has to offer.

  2. What's around

There’s so much to do in Nottingham, and the great news is that it’s all practically on your doorstep!

Liberty Point is close to plenty of Universities and Colleges, so no matter where you’re going, it’ll feel like a home away from home. You’re welcome to join us if you’re going to the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University, Confetti Institute of Creative Technology, or Nottingham College (formerly Central College Nottingham and New College Nottingham).

Nottingham Trent University is only 11 minutes away from Liberty Point by foot, whilst all of the others can be reached in less than a 20 minute walk – except for the University of Nottingham, which will take you just 27 minutes by bus.

Shopaholic? You’ll get your fix in Nottingham, no problem! You’ll love the Intu Broadmarsh Centre and the Intu Victoria Centre, but if you’re after something a little less mainstream, you could always try The Lace Market instead. You won’t ever have to fall behind in the style stakes whilst you’re living here!

Nottingham is home to many cultural points of interest, including its very own Castle, just 18 minutes away on foot! If you’re interested in the city’s rich history, then perhaps a visit to the City of Caves might be for you as well. Of course, there is the Nottingham Contemporary art gallery; which is absolutely free to enter, and it hosts plenty of fascinating modern exhibitions.

Looking for a night of live music? It’s a really popular hobby here, and as such, there are plenty of venues. Rock City is only a 14 minute walk away, or you could try The Maze, at only 16 minutes away. Both are good spots to catch your favourites or even scout for the next big thing! For the huge, international bands, Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is a must – just 10 minutes away on foot.

Some people prefer theatre, and Nottingham has plenty of drama! The Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall is only 11 minutes away from you on foot, whilst the Nottingham Playhouse is only slightly further at 18. It’s a different kind of night out, and both show some incredible pieces of theatre across the spectrum for you to enjoy.

If you need some downtime in between lectures, Nottingham has plenty of green space and parks to enjoy. You should check out Arboretum Park – a 20 minute walk from the residence – perfect if you want to explore or simply sit and enjoy the sun. It’s only seconds away from your new home.

Film buffs can rejoice, because there are five cinemas locally. Your nearest is Cineworld in the Cornerhouse, which you’ll find 11 minutes away from Liberty Point if you’re walking. It boasts 14 screens and is sure to be showing all of the latest releases for you to enjoy.

  3. Getting active

Getting fit has never been easier thanks to the multitude of different locations on your doorstep where you can work out. Liberty Point is near a range of fitness facilities, the closest being Gym4All in the Glasshouse on Huntingdon Street. It’s only a 5 minute walk, so you can save your energy for your exercise. Alternatively, you could try The Gym, which is open 24 hours a day and only 9 minutes walk away.

Exercise doesn’t have to be run of the (tread)mill; in fact, sometimes it makes us want to jump for joy – literally. Planet Bounce Trampoline Park will bring out your inner child, and the best news is that it’s only a 5 minute walk away!

Football is a popular sport in Nottingham, with the locals supporting Nottingham Forest FC. You can catch a game at The City Ground, which is just over a half hour walk from your student accommodation.

If nature is more your thing, why not get out and about instead? Robin Hood isn’t associated with Nottingham for nothing, and you can even venture to his beloved Sherwood Forest. It’s a great place to walk around or cycle; and you could even take a picnic if the weather’s nice! You don’t need to go far – the wonderful woodland awaits you just 45 minutes away by car or taxi!

  4. Travel and transport

Liberty Point is located rather centrally in Nottingham, so of course it’s accessible by public transport, car and even by foot.

Nottingham Train Station is located just an 18 minutes’ walk from the residence, and from there you can venture out to many different locations across the UK. For example, in just under two hours, you can find yourself in London, or if you feel like a trip to Manchester – it’s only about the same amount of time away, but in the opposite direction.

The bus system in the city is very reliable and easy to navigate; it will take you all around the city and to and from your University or College, and your front door, too! If you wanted to go even further afield, the Coach Station is served by National Express coaches; an easy 15 minute journey on foot from your new home.

If you live outside of the UK (or if you just fancy a holiday), the closest airport is East Midlands Airport; it’s roughly a 30 minute drive away or around an hour on the train.

  5. Local amenities

Need something from the shops? No worries! Liberty Point in Nottingham is located close to loads of different amenities that you’ll need to make yourself at home.

Local supermarkets include Tesco Metro, so you can pick up your groceries (and maybe even experiment in your awesome new kitchen) and you only have to walk 8 minutes away. If you prefer to shop elsewhere, Sainsbury’s is just 13 minutes away, whilst a big Aldi can be reached in only 4 minutes – so you can save money without having to go far.

If you don’t fancy cooking, you won’t be left high and dry. The residence is located near to loads of different kinds of restaurants and takeaways, too. You’ll have the likes of Pizza Express and Jamie’s Italian to choose from, plus independents like Emilio’s – the choice is yours.

If you need practical things like a Post Office, a bank or even a Bureau de Change, you won’t have to venture too far. All the major banks can be found on the high street, whilst the Post Office closest to you is on Queen Street, a 10 minute walk away.

Obviously, your place of study will have a library, but Nottingham also has one of its very own! The Nottingham Central Library is just 14 minutes on foot from Liberty Point. Perfect for those who want to explore other collections or have a change of scenery to do their work, without having to mission too far with your books!

  6. Your wellbeing

Worried about anything – anything at all?

Students at Liberty Point can receive free and completely confidential advice from any of the universities in the Nottingham area. So, whether you’ve got money on your mind or a health concern, you’ll never be on your own – and if they can’t help you, they’ll point you in the direction of somebody who can!

Your nearest doctor is the Family Medical Centre on Carlton Road, which is less than 15 minutes on foot from the residence.

If you get into any emergencies or if you need a specialist, your closest hospital is Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust; about 10-15 minutes in the car from Liberty Point. There’s an A&E there, too – we really hope you don’t need it, but it’s there if you do.

Of course, everyone at Liberty Point is looking out for you as well. If you ever need someone to chat to or need a bit of help and advice, we’ll always be available to assist.

    Enhancing your Student Experience

Our dedicated Student Experience programme has been created to ensure that every single one of you has the best stay possible when you live with us. Whether it is coming along to our social events and activities to meet new people, getting involved in fundraising and volunteering for some amazing charities, or popping along to drop in sessions to seek advice on finances, wellbeing and careers, we have something for you.

We understand that University can sometimes be an overwhelming experience, but don’t worry our team are great at giving advice on and mediating in all kinds of welfare issues that you may experience, such as homesickness, difficulty in getting on with flatmates, noise complaints, relationship problems, partying too hard and having trouble with studies.

Also, if you need more guidance, we have great relationships with our University partners and their support departments to help and guide you.

Follow the link to find out more about our Student Experience programme.

The best choice for international students

Coming to the UK to study from abroad? Welcome! We love catering to students from all over the world and learning a thing or two about their culture. Luckily, we’ve already got plenty of experience with this as we currently have around 4,500 international students staying with us, so you’re certainly not alone.

When you stay with Liberty Living your safety is the most important thing to us. We understand that you’re a long way from home and you want to feel comfortable and secure at all times. We have amazing staff on hand 24 hours a day, from the Residence Team, right through to Security who’ll keep an eye out for you overnight as well as CCTV. Contents insurance covering your possessions is included as standard in your rent, so your stuff is protected, and any parcels you have delivered will be well looked after until you can come to collect them.

Of course, we want you to have fun and make the most of your time here, too. You can always come to us with any problems, or even just for a chat. A new country can be confusing, so we’ve got loads of tips for things to do, too – just ask! Many of our staff members are multilingual, so don’t be shy if English isn’t your first language; if we can’t immediately offer support in your native tongue, we’ll point you in the direction of someone who can. We’ll do our best to help you settle in and make friends, and we can point you in the right direction for any visa, welfare or University advice you may need.

We can’t wait to meet you!

  7. Navigation_pink_Ratings.svg Accreditations

    Accreditations

Liberty Living operates in accordance with the National Code of Standards for student accommodation. The Code of Standards is run by ANUK (The Accreditation Network UK), the NUS, and Unipol Student Homes, and is supported by universities across the UK.

Liberty Living joined the Code of Standards to give our students peace of mind. You can be assured that you will enjoy a high standard of living in accordance with the Code of Standards, and a prompt resolution to problems should they ever occur when you stay at any of Liberty Living’s residences.

All of Liberty Living’s residences have been accredited by ANUK and run in accordance with the National Code of Standards.

    National Code of Standards logo

Liberty Living follow a distinct set of standards for our student accommodation, called the ANUK/Unipol National Codes. The purpose of these Codes, (membership of which is voluntary), is to provide students with professional housing services.

The standards chosen for the Codes reflect a balance of common sense obligations and responsibilities between landlords and tenants. They also reflect established best practice in the sector and are based on what an average student and their parents would expect of a good quality housing supplier. The standards are supported by the voice of students themselves through the National Union of Students.

What does being a member of the codes mean?

    • Both parties can enjoy the benefits of good standards of housing management and practice.
    • Misunderstandings and disputes are reduced.
    • If problems do occur they can be promptly resolved.
    • The independent complaints procedure operated by the Codes can be used for complaint resolution.

Important pre-arrival information

  1. Navigation_pink_Documents.svg Documents to provide

    Documents to provide

Once you've made a booking, you will need to provide us with the following documentation within 7 days (this will avoid delays on your moving in day):

    1. Signed copy of UK Guarantor Form

A UK Guarantor is required for all UK students and any non-UK students wishing to pay their rent via instalments.

A Guarantor is a third party who will be financially responsible for your rent payment in the event you can't pay. The Guarantor must be a permanent UK resident and be able to provide us with proof of address in the form of a council tax or utility bill (dated within the last 3 months). An ideal person for this responsibility is your mum, dad or your legal guardian growing up - although of course, you'll need their permission first.

    2. Passport-sized photograph of yourself

This can be a selfie, as long as we can clearly identify you.

    3. Student Loan Schedule

If you intend on using your student loan to pay your rent, we'll need to see evidence of your Student Loan Schedule from the Student Loan Company. Once we receive this, we can change your rent payment dates to coincide with the dates you receive your loan payment.

  2. Navigation_pink_Date picker.svg Arrival information

    When can you arrive?

You can move in any time after your contract start date. We have dedicated staff to help you move between 10am to 5pm.

If you are arriving outside of these hours, please contact us in advance on 0115 908 2600 or libertypoint-nottingham@libertyliving.co.uk

Please bring a Photo ID with you. This can be your driver’s license, passport or student ID.

  3. Navigation_pink_Map filters Pound.svg Paying your rent

What you need to know about paying your rent

Your accommodation fees (rent) will be charged automatically to the same credit/debit card you used on the website to pay your booking fee/deposit.

If you need to change this credit/debit card, please contact the residence asap and give them your new card details.

If you're relying on your Student Loan to pay for your rent, please keep in mind this loan is typically received a week or two after your rent is due. To avoid any nasty surprises, make sure you email us a copy of your Student Loan Schedule so we can change when your rent payment is due.

  4. Features_pink_Parking.svg Parking details

    Parking details

Please note there is no parking available at the residence. However, the closest public parking is Curzon Street Car Park. You can pay via the RingGo App, cash or card.

If you are moving to Phase 2, please be aware there is no parking or drop off bay on site. There is limited street parking on St Anne’s Wells Road, or you can park across the road on Curzon Street.
