University of Central Lancashire accommodation

The University of Central Lancashire may well be a ‘Modern University’ as it stands today, but that doesn’t stop it from being a world class institution! Our student accommodation in Preston places you right at the heart of all of the city! Check out our student accommodation in Preston.

  1. General information

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) goes back almost 200 years. It was founded in 1828 as the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge.

Since it opened all those years ago, ‘Ex solo ad solem’, or in translation, ‘From the Earth to the Sun’, has been its motto. They say this inspires them to help people from all walks of life to achieve their dreams and reach their potential – it’s what they’re all about.

The University may well be a ‘Modern University’ as it stands today, but that doesn’t stop it from being a world class institution! It’s the first of its kind to be up in the ranks with the top universities, and when it comes to the Research Excellence Framework, it’s been recognised as demonstrating elements of world-leading research. Some of the research being developed at the University is literally changing and even saving lives, so it’s an exciting time to join the community.

At UCLan, you will be made to feel welcome no matter your background. International students flock for the opportunity to study here, and in fact make up a large percentage of the student body with over 2000 from over 100 different countries every year.

Our University of Central Lancashire accommodation is ideal for UCLan students across the board. You’ll integrate well into student culture thanks to its location, and you’ll be at the heart of everything the city has to offer as well.

  2. The campus

There are a few different campuses at UCLan, but the main one lies at the heart of Preston in England’s North West. Due to its proximity to the city centre, you’re close to plenty of shops and restaurants, as well as exciting cultural events and the Harris Museum and Art Gallery. Our UCLan accommodation allows you to make the most of everything there is to see and experience.

On campus you will find top-of-the-range facilities, for example scientific laboratories, games development equipment, engineering workshops, music rooms, an Arts Centre, a media factory and plenty more.

When it comes to the library, University of Central Lancashire has a great one which is open 27/7 during term time. There are over 700 computers for students to use, including Apple Macs! Individual departments will sometimes also have their own library of resources as well.

If your aim is to keep fit, the UCLan Sports Arena is the best in the North West and has everything you could imagine to stay in shape or train with one of the many teams available to join.

For fun, you can attend the independent cinema on campus or the Guildhall entertainment complex, where you can catch bands or shows with your friends. The Student Union is also fantastic, providing everything from clubs to events, to advice, careers info and more!

When you stay at our University of Central Lancashire accommodation, you’ll be close to everything on campus so you’ll never feel as though you’re missing out.

  3. Undergraduate study

UCLan has an incredible range of courses for you to choose from – in fact; there are over 500 in total. There’s bound to be something that you’ll want to study to help you get to where you want to be in life, and you’ll be joining almost 28,000 other undergraduates while you do it.

At the University of Central Lancashire, they appreciate that student life can be a pretty big change when you’re new, and they do anything they can to help make the transition as easy as possible. Not only does the staff want you to fit in, they want to help you achieve your potential and be the best possible version of yourself. All undergraduates will be given help with their studies and anything else they may need.

It’s not just the University who’ll be able to help you when you need it! Our UCLan accommodation is staffed by awesome, super-friendly teams who are always on hand to assist. Plus, you have some great space to study in your new bedroom, guaranteed.

  4. Postgraduate study

If you want to develop your knowledge in a supportive environment, UCLan may well be the perfect place for you to do this with one of their postgraduate degree courses. Their programmes for postgraduates and their research opportunities are underpinned by world-leading research as well as an approach to learning which is both innovative and practical. Taught degrees are also available; leading experts will help guide you to success.

There is an element of flexibility at the University of Central Lancashire, meaning you can study full-time, part-time or even through eLearning. There are also professional development programmes and short courses as well. These approaches to study tie in well with UCLan’s ethos of preparing students for the real-world, and they give plenty of opportunities to everyone to develop knowledge they can then use in application in the workplace.

Thanks to close links with businesses not just locally but all around the world, postgraduate students will benefit from structured assistance which will actually benefit their future careers.

Our UCLan accommodation houses plenty of postgrads so you’ll be bound to find people in similar shoes and stages of life to you, as well as being closely located to campus so that you can make the most of your time learning to specialise in your field.
