Sheffield is a city with a lot of history industry, but its educational one is a rather long one, too. We’ll skip ahead for you with what you need to know – despite having roots in the 1800s and being a polytechnic in the mid-20th century, Sheffield Hallam became the institution we know and love today in 1992 when it was granted full University status.
As a public university in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Sheffield Hallam University – or SHU for short – is a massive University with over 33,000 students. Over 4000 of these are international, and so the ethos really is super diverse.
There are two campuses at the University, the City Campus at the heart of the exciting city centre, and the Collegiate Campus, just a couple of miles down the road. The University is divided into four facilities overall and there are 30 research centres.
Teaching quality is excellent as are the employment opportunities after graduation. The University has many links both locally and internationally, so it’s possible to really spread your wings.
