Southampton is vibrant city bursting with culture, with an exciting social scene. There are a range of different bars, restaurants and pubs in and around the city to keep you occupied in your spare time and during weekends.

Nightlife in Southampton has a great reputation, with most students visiting the well-known club Oceana; 10 minutes’ walk from Liberty Quays. Plus, we'd recommend Switch nightclub and The Edge.

The city centre and Oxford Street have a range of bars including; Yates, Orange Rooms and Turtle Bay, which are a hit amongst students. If you like films, there are 4 great cinemas; Odeon, Leisureworld – Cineworld, Harbour Lights (Ocean Village) and Showcase in West Quay.

Being so close to the city centre there are tons of different places to eat, catering for all differing tastes. Some popular favourite hotspots include Mango Thai, The Stable, La Tavernetta and 7Bone Burger.

There is also a large selection of national chain restaurants to enjoy, including; Nando’s, Bella Italia, Wagamama and more. If you like ice cream and delicious desserts, you will need to visit the famous Sprinkles Gelato in the city centre, it won’t disappoint!

Alternatively, if you enjoy the theatre; the Mayflower Theatre is 15 minutes’ walk away and hosts shows which include ballet, panto, opera and comedy.

The Titanic disaster of 1912 had a huge impact on the people of Southampton with hundreds of people sadly losing family members. The SeaCity Museum in the city centre is a well worth a visit, and looks into the history of the ship and the crew members on board.

If you like to relax after your lectures, take a walk around Southampton Common; it’s just 10 minutes’ drive away. The Common currently includes 326 acres of woodland and loads of beautiful scenery and things to do.
