  1. Social scenes

    Liberty Court is located in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent, a few minutes’ walk from the town’s broad range of entertainment venues and diverse restaurants. The city of Stoke has a wide selection of places to eat and drink to suit everyone’s tastes and budgets.

    Hanley town centre is a 10 minute walk from Liberty Court. Here you will find some fantastic restaurants on offer with independent places such as: Roberto’s Pizza House, The Church Bar and Restaurant (for your fancier fare), NOM restaurant (for all your favourite red meats) and La Bella Napoli, a traditional Italian.

    To get a real taste for Stoke’s world-famous delicacy, try TJ’s Oatcakes – they're a real must!

    There are also a range of national chain restaurants in Stoke and the surrounding areas. You’ll find the likes of Frankie and Benny’s, Pizza Hut, Miller and Carter and Bellini’s, just to name a few.

    The nightlife in Stoke and the area of Hanley is full of well-known chain bars and nightclubs, so you will always be guaranteed a great night. Rift & Co, Walkabout, Reflex and Chicago’s are some of the names you might see when heading in the city centre – 10 minutes’ walk from Liberty Court.

    Alternatively, if you like live music, try the Sugarmill; it’s extremely popular amongst students.

  2. What's around

    Liberty Court is located off Salisbury Avenue and right next to a picturesque canal, the residence is perfectly situated to make the most out of your time with us.

    Our student accommodation at Liberty Court is best suited to students studying at Staffordshire University which is ideally located less than a 10 minute walk away. The residence can also accommodate students from Keele University which is accessible by bus, and it takes around 40 minutes.

    The town of Stoke has plenty of things to see and do to keep you entertained throughout your time with us at Liberty Court.

    If you like to catch up on the latest blockbusters, take a trip to one of Stoke’s two cinemas – a Vue and an Odeon. Odeon is the closest to you at Festival Park in Hanley, as it’s just 20 minutes away on foot. If you’re after something a bit livelier, take a trip to one of the many theatres available in the town. Regent Theatre and Victoria Theatre in Hanley offer live music, comedy shows and much more and both are less than a 20 minute walk from Liberty Court.

    For live music, you’ll want to visit some of Stoke’s treasured music venues, The Victoria Hall and The Underground. Alongside The Sugarmill these are the main venues to watch your favourite bands or artists and are only 15 minutes’ walk away from Liberty Court.

    If you like to relax between lectures, take a stroll down to Hanley Park. It’s got loads to offer and it’s right on the doorstep of Liberty Court.

    Shopaholics can shop to they drop in Potteries Shopping Centre, a 20 minute walk from the residence. The shopping centre has a vast selection of well-known high street and brand name stores to choose from as well as some great cafés and restaurants if you fancy taking a break.

    Whilst living in Stoke, you should definitely visit the iconic Alton Towers theme park, which is only a 30 minute car or bus ride away. The theme park is known as the best in the UK, and offers discounted rates for students – making it a perfect day out with your flatmates.

    If you like animals, you’ll want to visit Trentham Monkey Forest. It’s located less than 15 minutes away from the residence in the car and you can experience 140 free roaming Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

  3. Getting active

    Stoke-on-Trent College has a new Sports Academy complete with a fitness centre right next to Liberty Court, which residents can use for a small fee. The Academy offers the latest gym equipment and a range of fitness classes to choose from.

    For fans of professional sport, Stoke has two football teams, Stoke City and Port Vale. Stoke City are in the Premier League and play at The Britannia Stadium, less than a 10 minute drive from the residence.

    For something more adventurous, Kilnworx Climbing Centre is a 10 minute drive from Liberty Court. The centre has been converted from an old church and features a number of challenging walls and routes to climb and abseil down. It’s famous across the country as being one of the best centres for fans of high altitudes.

    Want to get out and about? Hanley Park is right on your doorstep at Liberty Court and features some fantastic scenery; perfect if you fancy a brisk jog after lectures or at weekends.

  4. Travel and transport

    Stoke-on-Trent train station is located a 10 minute walk from the residence, and acts as a direct link to major cities across the UK. Stoke is located near some impressive cities which are less than an hour away, including: Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Nottingham. Additionally you can visit the UK’s capital, London and be there in only 1 hour and 30 minutes via train.

    Hanley bus station is located within the town centre where you will find several services which travel to the city centre and the surrounding areas. The Number 3 bus takes students to Keele University campus and around campus before leaving to enter Newcastle-under-Lyme. The bus stop is located just outside our student accommodation.

    National Express coaches also stop at the bus station, travelling to other major cities across the UK – perfect for visiting family or friends at weekends.

    If you fancy stretching your legs, there are over 150km worth of cycle routes and lanes around the city.

    For those that live outside of the UK, Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands and Liverpool each have their own airports. The nearest one to Liberty Court is Manchester International Airport, which offers an extensive range of widespread routes including budget and transatlantic flights.

  5. Local amenities

    Popping to the shops for your essentials will be a stress-free task when you stay at Liberty Court. The residence’s central location means you will have a range of amenities right on your doorstep.

    You will find a nice selection of supermarkets located around Liberty Court, the closest being Tesco Extra in Hanley, a 10 minute walk away. Alternatively there is a Morrison’s located at Festival Park, or you can pop to Sainsbury’s in Stoke city centre as it’s only 20 minutes’ walk away.

    There is a Post Office and a Bureau de Change as well as a Superdrug pharmacy located within the Potteries Shopping Centre which is only a 20 minute walk from Liberty Court.

    Festival Park Shopping Centre also has a range of shops catering for all your needs, plus there’s a Chinese restaurant, Pizza Hut and a canal-side pub if you fancy eating out.

    Both Keele University and Staffordshire University have libraries located on campus, for all of your needs whilst studying. Aside from the University library facilities, Stoke Central Library is 10 minute walk from Liberty Court located on Bethesda Street. It’s the biggest library in town and is open 6 days a week offering a broad amount of resources.

  6. Your wellbeing

    You’ll be able to receive free and confidential advice regarding pretty much anything, including finances, careers and general welfare when studying at any of Stoke’s universities. Liberty Court is located close to campus so you’ll never be too far away from the help you may be looking for.

    Residents of Liberty Court can register with surgeries at their University campus, but if you prefer something a little closer to home, the nearest surgery to the residence is the Norfolk Street Surgery, and for ease, it’s only a 5 minute walk away.

    For any emergencies, the Royal Stoke University Hospital is a 10 minute taxi ride from the residence should you need any urgent medical assistance – but we hope you’ll never need it!

    At Liberty Court, you will never be far from the help you may need. The Residence Team are available all day every day to guide or assist you throughout your time with us. They’re here to help you!

    Our dedicated Student Experience programme has been created to ensure that every single one of you has the best stay possible when you live with us. Whether it is coming along to our social events and activities to meet new people, getting involved in fundraising and volunteering for some amazing charities, or popping along to drop in sessions to seek advice on finances, wellbeing and careers, we have something for you.

    We understand that University can sometimes be an overwhelming experience, but don’t worry our team are great at giving advice on and mediating in all kinds of welfare issues that you may experience, such as homesickness, difficulty in getting on with flatmates, noise complaints, relationship problems, partying too hard and having trouble with studies.

    Also, if you need more guidance, we have great relationships with our University partners and their support departments to help and guide you.

    Coming to the UK to study from abroad? Welcome! We love catering to students from all over the world and learning a thing or two about their culture. Luckily, we’ve already got plenty of experience with this as we currently have around 4,500 international students staying with us, so you’re certainly not alone.

    When you stay with Liberty Living your safety is the most important thing to us. We understand that you’re a long way from home and you want to feel comfortable and secure at all times. We have amazing staff on hand 24 hours a day, from the Residence Team, right through to Security who’ll keep an eye out for you overnight as well as CCTV. Contents insurance covering your possessions is included as standard in your rent, so your stuff is protected, and any parcels you have delivered will be well looked after until you can come to collect them.

    Of course, we want you to have fun and make the most of your time here, too. You can always come to us with any problems,, or even just for a chat. A new country can be confusing, so we’ve got loads of tips for things to do, too – just ask! Many of our staff members are multilingual, so don’t be shy if English isn’t your first language; if we can’t immediately offer support in your native tongue, we’ll point you in the direction of someone who can. We’ll do our best to help you settle in and make friends, and we can point you in the right direction for any visa, welfare or University advice you may need.

    2. Pay your booking fee

      Once you’ve given us your details and signed up to the Tenancy Agreement, all you need to do is pay us a one off £200 booking fee and set up your payment schedule – and the room is yours.

    3. Get ready to move in

      Now try and contain your excitement… you’re booked and ready to move in! We’ve sent you confirmation of your booking and everything else you’ll need to know. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to your new home very soon.

You’ll get the privacy of having your own bathroom plus a 4ft double bed. All rooms share a spacious fully fitted kitchen and living area. Classic En-suite rooms are approximately 12m².
